Press Releases: Assistant Secretary Brownfield to Address Opioid Summit in Atlanta

On April 18, Ambassador William R. Brownfield, Assistant Secretary of State for International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL), will give plenary remarks at the National Rx Drug Abuse and Heroin Summit in Atlanta, Georgia. Ambassador Brownfield will speak on the opioid epidemic facing our nation and the State Department’s international role to address this domestic public health and law enforcement crisis.

Ambassador Brownfield will join the Summit’s Congressional Leaders Forum with Senator Edward Markey from Massachusetts, Congressman Harold “Hal” Rogers from Kentucky, Congressman Earl “Buddy” Carter from Georgia, Congressman John Larson from Connecticut, and Congressman Patrick Meehan from Pennsylvania. The Summit will feature over 2,000 attendees, including federal and state legislators, policy makers, health care practitioners, law enforcement, and family advocates for victims of the opioid crisis.
