An operational event at Taishan Nuclear Power Station (TNPS) was reported on the website of Taishan Nuclear Power Joint Venture Co Ltd (TNPJVC), a spokesperson for the Security Bureau said today (January 15).
At 6pm on January 6, a component malfunction occurred at a low-voltage switchboard at Unit 2 of TNPS. The problem was fixed at 1am on January 7. The periodic test of non-faulty switchboard carried out by Station staff during the repair period, however, did not meet the requirement of the relevant technical specifications. Timely actions were taken by TNPJVC to report the situation to the nuclear safety regulatory authority and carry out internal experience feedback.
During the aforementioned repair and periodic test, Unit 2 of TNPS remained in a normal and safe condition. Upon investigation, the event was classified on January 13 as a Level 0 deviation in accordance with the International Nuclear and Radiological Event Scale and the relevant nuclear safety regulations, and had no effect on the safe operation of the nuclear power station, or on the health of the workers, nearby public or the environment.
TNPJVC has disclosed the details about this event on its website. The details can be viewed at www.tnpjvc.com.cn (Chinese only).
