One more subcontractor staff member of Water Supplies Department contractor tests positive for COVID-19

     The Water Supplies Department (WSD) today (August 13) said that the department was notified by the contractor for construction of Tong Hang No. 3 Fresh Water Service Reservoir in Fanling that one more staff member of its subcontractor has tested positive for COVID-19. 

     A staff member of the subcontractor tested positive on August 8. Nine staff members of the subcontractor who had close contact with the staff member who tested positive were arranged to stay at quarantine centres by the Centre for Health Protection (CHP). Three of the nine staff tested positive earlier. The WSD was notified today that one more staff member among the nine staff members tested positive. The five staff members are now undergoing treatment. 

     The on-site operations of the project, including the site office, has been suspended. The contractor has thoroughly cleaned and disinfected the site, including the site office, and arranged for all remaining personnel of the project to undergo COVID-19 testing. The test results were all negative. The department will maintain close liaison with the CHP. All personnel of the project have been reminded to pay attention to personal hygiene and to stay vigilant. They should seek medical advice immediately if feeling unwell.
