Since 1986, breeding seabirds at colonies around the UK, Republic of Ireland, Isle of Man and Channel Islands have been monitored annually via the Seabird Monitoring Programme (SMP), co-ordinated and led by the Joint Nature Conservation Committee (JNCC) in partnership with 18 other organisations.
