Oboist Bobby Cheng to give recital in November

     The oboe player Bobby Cheng will collaborate with three musicians for a recital in November.
 
     Cheng will join Rachel Cheung (piano), Shane Levesque (harpsichord) and Tommy Liu (bassoon) to perform Couperin's "Les Goûts-réünis, Concert No. 7", Schumann's "Fantasiestücke, Op. 73" (arranged by Ramón Ortega Quero for oboe and piano), Kalliwoda's "Morceau de Salon", Silvestrini's "Horae Volubiles" and Slavicky's "Suite for Oboe and Piano". The recital will take place at 8pm on November 11 (Wednesday) at the Theatre of Hong Kong City Hall.
 
     Born and raised in Hong Kong, Bobby Cheng graduated with the highest honours at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts and Conservatoire National Supérieur Musique et Danse de Lyon (France). As a soloist, he has performed with the China National Centre for the Performing Arts Orchestra, the Thailand Philharmonic Orchestra, the Aspen Philharmonic Orchestra, the Korean Chamber Orchestra as well as France's Orchestre national du Capitole de Toulouse, where he was appointed as principal oboe in 2016. Being a promising player of his generation, Cheng appears regularly as guest principal oboe with the UK's BBC Symphony Orchestra, the Orchestre National de France, the Orchestre de Paris as well as the London Symphony Orchestra.
