New Yearbook “Hong Kong 2019” to go on sale tomorrow (with photo)

The Government's latest Yearbook, "Hong Kong 2019", will go on sale tomorrow (September 15).

The publication presents a comprehensive review of the past calendar year. It provides an extensive account of government policy, activities and progress on various fronts, along with a wealth of facts and figures to give an overview of Hong Kong life and developments during the year.

The 22 chapters cover the city's constitution and legal system, the economy, commerce and industry, innovation and technology, health, housing and transport, among many other topics.

On the cover of this edition is a sunrise view taken from the MacLehose Trail, a 100-kilometre hiking route across the New Territories that opened on October 26, 1979, and marked its 40th anniversary in 2019.

Similar themes are adopted on the inside back cover, which shows a map of four long-distance hiking trails in Hong Kong, and in a photo section entitled "Happy 40th Birthday".

There are 10 photo sections comprising about 90 pictures of events, people and places in Hong Kong. Among the highlights are photos relating to the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, the magnificent views from reservoirs and images of the Xiqu Centre, the first major performance venue completed in the West Kowloon Cultural District and opened in 2019.
