Police are investigating a murder in Western Division in the small hours today (October 12) in which a 48-year-old man died.
At 4.54am today, Police received a report that a man was being attacked on a taxi at the junction of Queen's Road West and Eastern Street.
Police officers sped to the scene and found the 48-year-old man lying unconscious on the floor. Sustaining serious injury to his neck, he was rushed to Queen Mary Hospital and was certified dead at 6.17am.
Initial investigation revealed that the deceased had been suspectedly attacked by a man with a sharp object. The suspect then left.
A chopper in suspected connection with the case was seized.
Post-mortem examinations will be conducted later to ascertain the cause of death of the deceased.
Active investigation by the Regional Crime Unit of Hong Kong Island is underway.
