Murder and suicide in Western District
Police are investigating a murder and suicide case in Western District today (August 17) in which a 44-year-old man and his 78-year-old father died.
At about 0.40am, Police received a report from a security guard that a man was lying on a rear lane of High Street. He was suspected of falling from height.
Police officers sped to the scene and located the 44-year-old man. Sustaining multiple injuries, he was certified dead at scene. Officers later located the man’s 78-year-old father lying inside a unit on 53-65 High Street. Sustaining injuries to his chest and abdomen, he was rushed to Queen Mary Hospital in unconscious state and was certified dead at 2.52am.
Initial investigation revealed that the 44-year-old man had attacked his father before falling from the unit.
A knife in suspected connection with the case was found inside the unit.
Post-mortem examinations will be conducted later to ascertain the causes of their deaths.
Investigation by the District Crime Squad of Western District is underway.
