Murder and suicide in Tai Po
Police are investigating a murder and suicide case in Tai Po today (September 6) in which a 61-year-old man and a 48-year-old woman died.
At about 9.45am, Police received a report that a man was found lying on a podium in Hang Wo House, Tai Wo Estate. He was suspected to have fallen from height.
Police officers sped to the scene. The 61-year-old man was certified dead at scene. Officers later found the man’s 48-year-old niece lying unconsciously inside a unit in Hang Wo House. Sustaining multiple stab wounds on her neck and back, she was certified dead at scene.
Initial investigation revealed that the duo were suspected to have money disputes and the man attacked his niece with a kitchen knife and a pair of scissors before jumping down from the unit.
A 30 centimeters long kitchen knife, a pair of scissors and a basin with burning charcoal in suspected connection with the case were seized inside the unit.
Post-mortem examinations will be conducted later to ascertain the cause of their deaths.
