The Water Supplies Department (WSD) today (February 10) said that a meter reader tested preliminarily positive for COVID-19 yesterday (February 9).
The staff member last performed his duties on January 31. He mainly performed the tasks of meter reading in the meter rooms of buildings in Ap Lei Chau, North Point, Western District and Mid-levels recently. He had worn face masks and followed relevant disease prevention measures at work.
The WSD has arranged a thorough cleaning and sterilising of the staff member's office, located on Wood Road, Wan Chai. The staff who had close contact with him at work have been arranged to undergo COVID-19 testing.
During the pandemic, the WSD has been strictly implementing various disease prevention measures, including providing masks and other personal protective equipment for staff. Staff members are reminded to pay attention to personal hygiene and to stay vigilant. They should seek medical advice immediately if feeling unwell.
