Police are investigating a manslaughter case in Sham Shui Po yesterday (July 19) in which a 54-year-old man died.
At about 2.45am yesterday, Police received a report in which the 54-year-old man and a 39-year-old man were fighting at the junction of Pei Ho Street and Apliu Street. Police officers sped to the scene. Sustaining head injuries, the 54-year-old man was rushed to Princess Margaret Hospital in unconscious state. Sustaining hand injuries, the 39-year-old man was sent to Caritas Medical Centre in conscious state. After initial investigations, both men were arrested for fighting in public place.
The 54-year-old man was subsequently certified dead at 7.20pm this evening (July 20).
Police laid a charge against the 39-year-old man with one count of manslaughter. The case will be mentioned at West Kowloon Magistrates' Courts tomorrow morning (July 21).
Post-mortem examinations will be conducted later to ascertain the cause of death of the deceased.
Investigation by the District Crime Squad of Sham Shui Po District is underway.
