London ETO promotes Hong Kong films at London East Asia Film Festival 2020 (with photos)
The Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office, London (London ETO) sponsored the London East Asia Film Festival (LEAFF) 2020, and supported the screening of two Hong Kong films.
Since 2016, the London ETO has partnered with LEAFF to promote Hong Kong films and the East Asian film culture in the UK. This year, amongst the ten films shown at LEAFF 2020, two were from Hong Kong."No. 7 Cherry Lane", an animated movie directed by Yonfan and featuring the voice talents of Sylvia Chang, Zhao Wei and Alex Lam was screened at the Festival's closing gala on December 12 (London Time). The Festival arranged a live virtual question and answer session with the director Yonfan after the screening. Another Hong Kong film, "Twilight’s Kiss", directed by Ray Yeung and starring Tai Bo and Ben Yuen, was selected and screened as one of LEAFF’s "Special Focus".
The Director-General of the London ETO, Miss Winky So, said, "We are grateful to continue to be part of LEAFF this year to show our unwavering support to the film industry, during this difficult time of the global pandemic. The HKSAR Government is also committed to providing multi-pronged support for the Hong Kong film industry to go through this unprecedented time. Announced earlier in July 2020, around HK$260 million (GBP$26 million) has been embarked under the Film Development Fund to increase local film productions and nurture young talents. We look forward to bringing more Hong Kong films to the UK audiences."
