Local soprano Athene Mok to give recital in October

     The promising Hong Kong soprano Athene Mok will give a recital in October.
 
     Mok will collaborate with pianist Cherry Tsang in performing opera works and art songs by renowned composers including Mozart, Rossini, Mendelssohn and Bernstein.
 
     Mok graduated with a Bachelor of Music degree from the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts. She also earned a Master of Music degree, and a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the Eastman School of Music at the University of Rochester in the United States (US).
 
     Mok was the winner of the 37th Jessie Kneisel Lieder Competition at the Eastman School of Music and came third in the Friends of Eastman Opera Competition (2017-2018). She was also a semi-finalist of the Classical Singer Vocal Competition held by the US' Classical Singer Magazine.
 
     Mok has performed in Hong Kong, Taipei, Toronto and Tel Aviv as well as various cities in the US. She has taken part in a number of opera performances including the main character, the Ghost, in the contemporary chamber opera "Ghost Love", Poppea and Valletto in "L'incoronazione di Poppea", Morgana in "Alcina" and Despina in "Cosi fan Tutte". Being an active concert soloist, she has also collaborated with the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra, the Eastman Philharmonia and Eastman Rochester Chorus as well as the Bucknell University Choir and Camerata.
 
     Presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, "Our Music Talents" Series: "Vocal Recital by Athene Mok" will be staged at 8pm on October 29 (Friday) at the Theatre of Hong Kong City Hall.
