LegCo to debate motion on reforming accountability system for principal officials
The following is issued on behalf of the Legislative Council Secretariat:
The Legislative Council (LegCo) will hold a meeting on Wednesday (June 23) at 11am in the Chamber of the LegCo Complex. During the meeting, Members will debate a motion on reforming the accountability system for principal officials. The motion, moved by Ms Starry Lee, is set out in Appendix 1. Ms Alice Mak will move an amendment to Ms Lee's motion.
Mr Yiu Si-wing will move a motion on providing support for hard-hit industries affected by the epidemic. The motion is set out in Appendix 2. Mr Frankie Yick will move an amendment to Mr Yiu's motion.
On Government Bills, the Second Reading debate on the Mercury Control Bill and the Free-Flow Tolling (Miscellaneous Amendments) Bill 2021 will resume. If the Bills are supported by Members and receive their Second Reading, they will stand committed to the committee of the whole Council. After the committee of the whole Council has completed consideration of the Bills and their reports are adopted by the Council, the Bills will be set down for the Third Reading.
Meanwhile, the Ocean Park Corporation (Amendment) Bill 2021 and The Open University of Hong Kong (Amendment) Bill 2021 will be introduced into the Council for the First Reading and the Second Reading. The Second Reading debate on the Bills will be adjourned.
On Government motion, the Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development will move a proposed resolution under the Trading Funds Ordinance. The proposed resolution is set out in Appendix 3.
During the meeting, Members will also ask the Government 22 questions on various policy areas, six of which require oral replies.
