LegCo to consider Occupational Safety and Occupational Health Legislation (Miscellaneous Amendments) Bill 2022
The following is issued on behalf of the Legislative Council Secretariat:
The Legislative Council (LegCo) will hold a meeting on Wednesday (April 19) at 11am in the Chamber of the LegCo Complex. During the meeting, the Second Reading debate on the Occupational Safety and Occupational Health Legislation (Miscellaneous Amendments) Bill 2022 will resume. If the Bill is supported by Members and receives its Second Reading, it will stand committed to the committee of the whole Council. After the committee of the whole Council has completed consideration of the Bill and its report is adopted by the Council, the Bill will be set down for the Third Reading.
The Second Reading debate on the Inland Revenue (Amendment) (Child Allowance and Tax Concessions) Bill 2023 will also resume. If the Bill is supported by Members and receives its Second Reading, it will stand committed to the committee of the whole Council. After the committee of the whole Council has completed consideration of the Bill and its report is adopted by the Council, the Bill will be set down for the Third Reading.
Meanwhile, the Stamp Duty (Amendment) (No. 2) Bill 2023 and the Insurance (Amendment) Bill 2023 will be introduced into the Council for the First Reading and the Second Reading. The Second Reading debate on the Bills will be adjourned.
On Members' motions, Mr Gary Zhang will move a motion on enhancing the performance of public transport services. The motion is set out in Appendix 1. Ms Lam So-wai and Mr Frankie Yick will move separate amendments to Mr Zhang's motion.
Mr Shiu Ka-fai will move a motion on expediting the importation of manpower to replenish Hong Kong's labour force. The motion is set out in Appendix 2. Mr Duncan Chiu, Dr Ngan Man-yu, Dr Chow Man-kong and Mr Lee Chun-keung will move separate amendments to Mr Shiu's motion.
Mr Robert Lee will move a proposed resolution under section 34(4) of the Interpretation and General Clauses Ordinance to extend the period for amending subsidiary legislation. The proposed resolution is set out in Appendix 3.
During the meeting, the Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee, Mr Shiu, will present the "Supplemental Report of the Public Accounts Committee on Report No. 78 of the Director of Audit on the Results of Value for Money Audits" and address the Council.
Members will also ask the Government 22 questions on various policy areas, six of which require oral replies.
