LegCo to consider Immigration (Amendment) Bill 2020

The following is issued on behalf of the Legislative Council Secretariat:
 
     The Legislative Council (LegCo) will hold a meeting on Wednesday (December 16) at 11am in the Chamber of the LegCo Complex. The Immigration (Amendment) Bill 2020 will be introduced into the Council for the First Reading and the Second Reading. The Second Reading debate on the Bill will be adjourned.
 
     Meanwhile, Dr Chiang Lai-wan will move two proposed resolutions under section 34(4) of the Interpretation and General Clauses Ordinance to extend the period for amending the Prevention and Control of Disease (Requirements and Directions) (Business and Premises) (Amendment) (No. 7) Regulation 2020 and the Prevention and Control of Disease (Prohibition on Group Gathering) (Amendment) (No. 13) Regulation 2020, laid on the table of LegCo on November 25, 2020, to the meeting of January 13, 2021; and to extend the period for amending the Prevention and Control of Disease (Prohibition on Group Gathering) (Amendment) (No. 14) Regulation 2020, laid on the table of LegCo on December 2, 2020, to the meeting of January 20, 2021. The proposed resolutions are set out in Appendices 1 and 2.
 
     The Chief Secretary for Administration will present "The Government Minute in response to the Annual Report of The Ombudsman 2020" and address the Council.
 
     Members will also ask the Government 22 questions on various policy areas, six of which require oral replies.
 
     The agenda of the above meeting can be obtained via the LegCo Website (www.legco.gov.hk).  Members of the public can watch or listen to the meeting via the "Webcast" system on the LegCo Website.  To observe the proceedings of the meeting at the LegCo Complex, members of the public may call 3919 3399 during office hours to reserve seats.
