LegCo Panel on Home Affairs visits Hong Kong Palace Museum (with photos)

The Legislative Council (LegCo) Panel on Home Affairs today (August 2) visited the Hong Kong Palace Museum (HKPM) at the West Kowloon Cultural District (WKCD) to understand the latest situation of the HKPM since its opening.
After arriving at the HKPM, Members received briefings by the Board Chairman of the West Kowloon Cultural District Authority (WKCDA), Mr Henry Tang, and the Board Chairman of the HKPM, Mr Bernard Chan, on the operation of the HKPM since its opening on July 3, including the ticketing arrangements and the registration of free tickets.
Members then toured five of the galleries of the HKPM to see for themselves the museum facilities. The HKPM exhibits about 900 priceless treasures from the Palace Museum in Beijing, some of which are being exhibited in Hong Kong for the first time. During the visit, Members took the opportunity to exchange views with the representatives of the WKCDA and the Under Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism, Mr Raistlin Lau, on the future development of the WKCD and the HKPM.
A total of 35 LegCo Members attended the visit. Apart from Panel members, non-Panel members, including the President of the LegCo, Mr Andrew Leung, also attended the visit.
