LegCo Panel on Home Affairs visits facilities of Hong Kong Palace Museum (with photos)

The following is issued on behalf of the Legislative Council Secretariat:

     The Legislative Council (LegCo) Panel on Home Affairs visited the West Kowloon Cultural District (WKCD) to tour the facilities of the Hong Kong Palace Museum (HKPM) today (May 10).

     After arriving at HKPM, Members received briefings by the Chief Executive Officer of the West Kowloon Cultural District Authority (WKCDA), Mrs Betty Fung, and the Museum Director of the HKPM, Dr Louis Ng, on the latest development of the WKCD Project and the work progress of the opening preparation for the HKPM respectively.  

     With the company of the Board Chairman of the WKCDA, Mr Henry Tang, Members then tour around the HKPM to learn about the architectural features of and exhibition facilities in the HKPM. Located at the western tip of the WKCD, the HKPM is expected to open in July this year, exhibiting about 900 priceless treasures from the Palace Museum in Beijing.  

     At the invitation of the WKCDA, a total of 41 LegCo Members attended the visit, including the President of LegCo, Mr Andrew Leung, Panel members and non-Panel members.
