LegCo congratulates Hong Kong’s women table tennis team on winning bronze medal

Hong Kong's table tennis athletes Lee Ho-ching, Doo Hoi-kem, Soo Wai-yam and Zhu Chengzhu today (August 5) added a bronze medal to the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region's tally by winning the Table Tennis Women's Team competition at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. The President of the Legislative Council (LegCo), Mr Andrew Leung, on behalf of all LegCo Members, issued a letter today to congratulate the table tennis team. He also expresses his heartfelt thanks and congratulations to the training team who has been supporting and nurturing the brilliant athletes.
Mr Leung said, "The athletes played with great skills and quick reflexes. Fighting fiercely against the best table tennis teams in the world, they were able to break through the tactics of opponents and displayed excellent attack and defence strokes throughout the competition. Winning the Olympic bronze medal has once again brought pride to the Hong Kong sports sector."
Mr Leung added, "During the competition, the seamless co-operation among athletes has demonstrated the best team spirit. They have exemplified their determination to pass on the sport of table tennis to the next generation. Bringing hope to our younger athletes, this Olympic medal is particularly meaningful."
