LegCo congratulates Chu Man-kai and Chan Ho-yuen on winning two medals for Hong Kong

Hong Kong's badminton athletes Mr Chu Man-kai and Mr Chan Ho-yuen today (September 5) won a silver medal and a bronze medal for the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region in the Men's SH6 Singles and WH2 Singles events respectively on the final day of the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games. The President of the Legislative Council (LegCo), Mr Andrew Leung, on behalf of all LegCo Members, issued letters to congratulate Mr Chu and Mr Chan. He also expresses gratitude to their coaches and training teams.
Mr Leung said, "Badminton is a newly added sports in this year's Paralympics. In their debut performances, Mr Chu and Mr Chan displayed marvellous skills with fascinating attack and defence strokes. We are all thrilled by their outstanding performances before the world's best athletes and winning the medals for Hong Kong."
Mr Leung continued, "Mr Chu displayed quick reflexes in the fierce match against the opponent, and his excellent performance brought him the silver medal. On the other hand, Mr Chan once fell behind his opponent in the bronze medal match, but he snatched the medal eventually with exceptional resilience and calmness. The perseverance demonstrated by the athletes is exemplary to all of us. Their success in winning the medals does not only mark a new and glorious page for Hong Kong's badminton sports, but also a perfect ending for the Hong Kong, China Delegation in this year's Paralympic Games."
