The Leisure and Cultural Services Department will present a recital by the talented local pianist Jamie Shum in November.
Shum will perform Rachmaninov's three preludes (C# minor, D and G minor), Prokofiev's "Piano Sonata No. 3 in A minor", Liszt's "Piano Sonata in B minor", as well as Chopin's "Scherzo No. 2 in B-flat minor" and "Ballade No. 4 in F minor".
The Hong Kong-born Jamie Shum obtained her master's degree in Piano Performance and Literature at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music in the US after graduating from the Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU). Throughout her music studies, Shum was the répétiteur of the world-class soprano Nicole Cabell, and the orchestral pianist of the HKBU Symphony Orchestra.
Shum was the winner of the Jan and Beattie Wood Concerto Competition at the Brevard Music Festival in 2017. She has appeared as a soloist with many orchestras and collaborated with distinguished conductors in the Mainland, Europe and the US. She is also active in teaching, which has brought her three outstanding teacher awards in Hong Kong.
"Piano Recital by Jamie Shum" is one of the programmes in the "Our Music Talents Series". It will be staged at 8pm on November 19 (Thursday) at the Theatre of Hong Kong City Hall.
