Since the onset of the fifth wave of the COVID-19 epidemic, lifesaving services at all gazetted beaches under the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) had been suspended. In view of the present severe situation of COVID-19, the LCSD will strengthen the management of the gazetted beaches and close all these beaches from tomorrow (March 17) until further notice, in order to reduce crowd gatherings and the chances of virus transmission.
The LCSD will strengthen the cordoning off of beaches to prevent the public from entering. A spokesman for the Department appeals to members of the public to fight the virus together and stay at home as much as possible.
