The Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) today (December 10) said that an outsourced library worker has tested positive for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
The outsourced library worker performed duties at the Central Reference Library of the Hong Kong Central Library (HKCL) in Wan Chai District. He last performed duties on December 4. As he had been identified as a close contact of a confirmed case, he was sent to a quarantine centre and was tested for COVID-19. He was notified yesterday (December 9) that he had tested positive.
The worker concerned has no recent travel history. He has been wearing surgical masks when performing duties. His body temperature was normal when undergoing temperature screening during work.
The LCSD has arranged thorough cleaning and sterilisation on the relevant floors and all public facilities of the HKCL according to guidelines provided by the Centre for Health Protection (CHP). Some leisure and cultural venues/facilities, including the HKCL, has been closed starting from today.
The LCSD is highly concerned about the COVID-19 epidemic and will continue to maintain close liaison with the CHP. Staff are reminded to pay attention to personal hygiene and to stay vigilant. They should seek medical advice immediately if feeling unwell.
