LCSD “Dance on Screen” Series to present free online dance video “Missing”
The Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) "Dance on Screen" Series today (November 12) launched a free online dance video, "Missing", performed by local arts group Beyond Dance Theater at the department's Edutainment Channel. The video is available from now until December 10 (Friday).
Through the modern dance movements of the two dancers, the nine-minute long video portrays the fact that the city has developed at an amazing speed in the last few decades and the skyline has been reshaped with numerous skyscrapers. Some unique features of the local culture and community have continued morphing, while others have faded into oblivion during the process. Memories remain, while heartfelt longings have vanished and are missed.
Beyond Dance Theater was established in 2017 by its artistic director Kelvin Mak. Mak, majoring in contemporary dance, graduated from the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts. He has participated in various local and overseas dance competitions before joining the City Contemporary Dance Company in 2013. Mak was nominated for "Outstanding Performance by a Male Dancer" at the Hong Kong Dance Award 2016 and received the award in 2017.
