The Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) today (December 14) said that an artisan has tested positive for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
The artisan concerned works at the New Territories West Tree Team (Old and Valuable Tree)(New Territories) Depot, providing management services for old and valuable trees in the New Territories. He last performed his duties on December 10. The artisan concerned felt unwell earlier and sought medical treatment. He was notified yesterday (December 13) that he had tested positive for COVID-19.
The artisan concerned has no recent travel history. He wore surgical masks when performing his duties. His body temperature was normal when undergoing temperature screening during work.
The LCSD will arrange a thorough cleaning and sterilisation at the work areas concerned and all related public facilities according to guidelines provided by the Centre for Health Protection (CHP). The concerned office has been closed until further notice for a thorough cleaning and sterilisation.
The LCSD is highly concerned about the COVID-19 epidemic and will continue to maintain close liaison with the CHP. Staff are reminded to pay attention to personal hygiene and to stay vigilant. They should seek medical advice immediately if feeling unwell.
