Labour Department urges employers to flexibly release employees from work in consideration of traffic and road conditions

The Labour Department (LD) today (October 8) urged employers to flexibly release employees from work in consideration of traffic and road conditions, having regard to the operational needs of the establishments and employees' situations. This will help maintain good labour-management relations and ensure the safety of employees.

"Employers should take into account the traffic and road conditions and make flexible arrangements to release employees from work such as arranging early release in batches to enable those who need to commute by public transport to return home smoothly. Employers should also give due consideration to the circumstances of individual employees and handle each case flexibly," an LD spokesman said.
