The spokesperson for Kowloon East Cluster made the following announcement today (August 28) regarding the service arrangement for cataract surgery:
Affected by a water pipe burst occurring at around 10pm last evening (August 27), the service of the Wo Lu Ning Cataract Centre at Tseung Kwan O Hospital was suspended today. To safeguard patient safety, the Cataract Centre is conducting thorough environmental cleansing and air sampling. It is expected that the surgical service will resume on September 3.
The hospital would contact 48 affected patients for rescheduling their non-emergency operations to be performed within three months according to their clinical conditions. If necessary, patients can call the enquiry hotline of the Wu Ho Loo Ning Cataract Centre at 2208 0248 during office hours.
The incident has been reported to the Hospital Authority Head Office. To prevent recurrence of similar incident, the hospital will examine thoroughly the piping system.
