Kick-off Ceremony of 150th Anniversary of Hong Kong Zoological and Botanical Gardens cum Evening Musical Performance (with photos)
​The Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) will hold the Kick-off Ceremony of the 150th Anniversary of the Hong Kong Zoological and Botanical Gardens (HKZBG) cum Evening Musical Performance at the HKZBG this Saturday (November 6) to commemorate its services over one and a half centuries and display the new image of the HKZBG under the new brand theme, "Urban Forest Living as One".
The event will be held at the Fountain Terrace Garden of the HKZBG from 4.30pm to 6pm with music performances of the String Ensemble, Chinese Percussion Ensemble, Pipa Ensemble, Saxophone Quartet and Youth Choir of the Music Office, as well as singing performances by STARS Academy graduates and a sand painting art performance.
Free admission is offered for the event. Entry to the evening musical performance will start at 3.30pm on a first-come-first-served basis. The audience may sit on the lawn area around the stage to enjoy various performances starting from 4pm. Eating or drinking in the audience zone is prohibited. Attendance at the event will be capped and crowd management measures, such as issuing tags, will be implemented if necessary. All participants are required to wear masks, take body temperature and scan the "LeaveHomeSafe" QR code. All participants must comply with the regulations under the Prevention and Control of Disease (Prohibition on Group Gathering) Regulation (Cap 599G) and maintain appropriate social distancing.
Persons aged below 12 or aged 65 or above and those with disabilities that render use of the app difficult will be exempted from the requirement to use the app. They are required instead to complete a form to register their name, the first four digits or letters of their identification document, their contact number and the date and time of their visit. Exempted persons are also required to present relevant identification documents for verification at the request of the staff on-site during registration. The staff will also verify the contact numbers by making phone calls.
A series of other celebratory activities will also be held at the HKZBG, including guided visits, thematic talks on greening and conservation and game booths, for public participation from 2pm to 6pm on that day.
