Judiciary support staff member preliminarily tests positive for COVID-19
The following is issued on behalf of the Judiciary:
The Judiciary today (February 9) said a staff member responsible for backend support duties at the District Court has preliminarily tested positive for COVID-19. The District Court will continue to operate with reduced opening hours for the Registry as recently announced and all hearings at the District Court will proceed as scheduled as from tomorrow (February 10).
The staff member concerned does not need to contact court users and the general public in her daily work. She was wearing masks and observing social distancing measures while performing her work. The last time she worked in court premises was February 7.
Pending advice from the Centre for Health Protection on testing requirements for affected staff and court users, the Judiciary has taken the following contingency measures:
(a) completing special cleansing and disinfection of the relevant offices and public areas at the District Court today; and
(b) arranging staff working in close vicinity of the concerned staff to take tests in batches.
Details of confirmed or preliminary positive cases of COVID-19 involving staff working on Judiciary premises and court users who have stayed in the court areas for relatively long hours in the past 14 days will continue to be uploaded to the Judiciary website (www.judiciary.hk) for reference.
The Judiciary will continue to closely monitor the public health situation with a view to putting in place timely and appropriate measures. Court users should check the Judiciary website (www.judiciary.hk) for updated information.
