The Ministry of Health & Family Welfare conducts the tenth round of the National Deworming Day (NDD)

The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) conducted the tenth round of National Deworming Day (NDD), today. This will be followed by the mop-up day on February 17, 2020. As part of this campaign, children and adolescents aged 1-19 years are being administered Albendazole (400 mg) across government, government-aided schools, anganwadis, private schools and other educational institutions.

Around 7.64 crore learners successfully passed the biannual Basic Assessment Test under Saakshar Bharat Mission-HRD Minister

Saakshar Bharat Programme, the latest version of National Literacy Mission, was implemented in the rural areas of 410 districts in 26 States and one UT of the country. Under the programme, against the overall target of making 7 crore adult non-literates to be made literates, around 7.64 crore learners successfully passed the biannual Basic Literacy Assessment Tests conducted by National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) between August, 2010 to March, 2018 and were certified as literates.

Central Government has taken various initiatives to improve the quality of education in North-Eastern Region-HRD Minister

The Central Government has taken the following initiatives for improving the quality in school education in the country including NE Region:

(i) The Central rules to the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education (RTE) Act, 2009 have been amended and class-wise, subject-wise Learning Outcomes have been shared with all States and Union Territories.

Various steps have been taken to increase the employability of graduates-HRD Minister

AICTE in association with various organisations carries out an employability Skill Test of pre-final and final year graduate students of AICTE approved institutions annually. The results have indicated that there has been a constant rise in employability of engineering graduates in India over the last 5-years.

Navy Children School (Mumbai) student becomes the youngest girl to summit Mount Aconcagua in South America

Kaamya Karthikeyan, a class VII student of Navy Children School (NCS), Mumbai, became the youngest girl in the world to summit Mt. Aconcagua, the highest peak in South America and outside of Asia. 

She summited the mountain peak of 6962 m height on 01 Feb 2020 and unfurled the Indian tricolour.
