Shri R K Singh, Union Minister of State (IC) Power and New & Renewable Energy held a meeting today with Independent Power Producers (IPPs) to discuss the issues faced by them and find out possible solutions.

The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, today addressed the Rising India Summit, organized by Network 18.

He said that when we speak of a rise, in terms of a nation, it has a very broad context. He said that beyond the rise of the economy, he feels that Rising India implies the rise of self-respect among the people of India.

The Vice President of India, Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu has said that India needs education system with greater emphasis on Indian history, heritage and culture. He was addressing the valedictory function of the Golden Jubilee celebrations of Hindustan Group of Institutions, in Chennai today.

The Prime Minister has expressed concern at the restrictive and discriminatory clauses being imposed against domestic manufacturers and suppliers in tender documents for public procurement. These observations were made during the course of review of the implementation of the Public Procurement (Preference to Make in India) (PPP-MII) Order, 2017.

Emphasising the Government’s commitment to undertake initiatives that are people-centric and boost the income of farmers, as well as generate jobs for the socio-economic development of the North-Eastern region, Union Minister for Science & Technology, Earth Sciences and Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Dr. Harsh Vardhan has said that the North East is a special focus of the Government.
