The President of India, Shri Ram Nath Kovind, addressed a civic reception hosted for him in Jaipur, Rajasthan, by the state government today (May 13, 2018).

Speaking on the occasion, the President said that the people of Rajasthan have a strong attachment to their homeland, language and human values.

Union Minister for Road Transport, Highways, Shipping, Water Resources and Ganga Rejuvenation Shri Nitin Gadkari will inaugurate the upgraded 4-lane NH-15 from Amritsar to Bhatinda and NH-64 from Zirakpur to Bhatinda, and will lay the foundation stone of 2-laning with paved shoulders of the Munak-Jhakhal-Budhlana section of NH-144B in Punjab tomorrow.

The Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan has announced that the State will be declared as open defecation free (ODF) by Gandhi Jayanti this year. This will mean that the State will become ODF one year before the national timeline of October 2nd, 2019, the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.

          General Bipin Rawat, Chief of the Army Staff shall be visiting Sri Lanka from 14 to 17 May 2018 on an official visit. It shall be the first visit of General Bipin Rawat to Sri Lanka. During the visit, he is scheduled to meet the senior most political and military hierarchy of Sri Lanka.
