NDMA reviews preparedness of States to counter heat wave and lightning

The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) conducted a meeting with 17 heat wave-prone States here today to review their preparedness and mitigation measures. In view of the recent incidents of thunderstorm and lightning, preparedness measures relating to these hazards were also assessed.

 The water storage available in 91 major reservoirs of the country for the week ending on May 17, 2018 was 31.072 BCM which is 19% of total storage capacity of these reservoirs. This percentage was at 20 for the week ending on May 10, 2018.

PM announces ex-gratia for the next of kin of those who lost their lives due to collapse of an under-construction flyover in Varanasi from PMNRF

 

The Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has approved an ex- gratia of Rs. 2 lakh each from Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund for the next of kin of those who have lost their lives due to the collapse of an under-construction flyover in Varanasi on 15th May, 2018.
