AS part of goodwill gesture and to strengthen relations between India and Samoa, the Union Minister of State for Tribal Affairs (MoS) Shri. Jasvanthsinh Sumanbhai Bhabhor will embark on a weeklong visit (18th to25th) to Samoa, Pacific Island country from tomorrow.

The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) conducted a meeting with 17 heat wave-prone States here today to review their preparedness and mitigation measures. In view of the recent incidents of thunderstorm and lightning, preparedness measures relating to these hazards were also assessed.

 The water storage available in 91 major reservoirs of the country for the week ending on May 17, 2018 was 31.072 BCM which is 19% of total storage capacity of these reservoirs. This percentage was at 20 for the week ending on May 10, 2018.

The permissible limits on borrowings under Fiscal Consolidation roadmap needed to be equally applicable to Centre and States in the context of overall macroeconomic framework, agreed the leading economists in a meeting with Fifteenth Finance Commission held here today.

 

The Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has approved an ex- gratia of Rs. 2 lakh each from Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund for the next of kin of those who have lost their lives due to the collapse of an under-construction flyover in Varanasi on 15th May, 2018.
