The Minister for Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation Shri Nitin Gadkari today visited the pavilion set up by National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG) at Vigyan Bhawan lawns from 2nd June to 5th June 2018 to observe the World Environment Day, of which India is the global host this year.

The Union Minister of Human Resource Development, Shri Prakash Javadekar today felicitated 67 students of class XII who topped in different categories from Delhi and NCR. These students belonged to KVs, JNVs, government, private and open school, varied social strata and students with special needs and have scored more than 82% marks and above in class XII 2018 exam results . The programme signifies the effort of the government to bring the meritorious students to the main stream and provide encouragement.

Union Minister of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Dr. Harsh Vardhan has said that for India, World Environment Day 2018 is “not a symbolic celebration, but a mission”. The Minister invited the people to take care of their Green Social Responsibility and urged them to take up Green Good Deeds in everyday life.

Emphasising the importance of documenting success stories in States that can be disseminated to other States across the country, Union Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Dr. Harsh Vardhan has stressed the need to create an adequate funding mechanism for implementing waste regulations, considering that one of the major issues faced by municipal corporations is the lack of financial resources.

Society of Integrated Coastal Management (SICOM) under the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change has embarked upon a programme for  Blue flag certification of one Blue Flag beach in each of the 13 coastal States /UTs under  the World Bank-assisted Integrated Coastal Zone Management Project (ICZMP).
