The Defence Acquisition Council (DAC), chaired by Raksha Mantri Smt Nirmala Sitharaman met here today.

            In continuation of its efforts to boost indigenous defence industry and to reduce timelines so as to ensure timely delivery of equipment to the Armed Forces, the DAC discussed and approved Implementationguidelines for the Strategic Partnership Model.

The production of raw cashew nuts in India during 2017-18 has increased to all time high at 8.17 lakh metric tonneand registered growth of 4% compared to previous   production of 7.79 lakh metric tonneand 21 % increase compared to 2015-16 production of 6.70 lakh metric tonne.

1.The two day Unified Commanders’ Conference (UCC) for the year 2018 will be held on 30th & 31st Jul 2018 at New Delhi.  The Annual Conference provides a platform for discussions at the Apex Level on all ‘Joint Issues’ amongst the three Services & Ministry of Defence and enables stock taking of the previous year and planning the way ahead for the next year.

Stressed Thermal Power Assets are a cause of concern for the Country. With a view to resolve the stress and revive such assets, the Government has decided to set up a High Level Empowered Committee headed by Cabinet Secretary with representatives from the Ministry of Railways, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Power, Ministry of Coal and the lenders having major exposure to the power sector.
