The Vice President of India, Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu has expressed deep sorrow over the demise of Shri M. Karunanidhi.

Following is the text of Vice President’s message:

“I am grieved by the passing away of Shri M. Karunanidhi, one of the leading and longstanding politicians of our country who left a mark of his own during his long public life of about 80 years including 56 years as Member of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly.

An official delegation from Nepal headed by Inspector General, Armed Police Force of Nepal, Shri Shailendra Khanal is on official visit to India from August 7-10, 2018 for the 3rd India-Nepal Coordination meeting with DG, SSB. The 7-member delegation called on the Union Home Secretary Shri Rajiv Gauba here today.

National Commission for Backward Classes (Repeal) Bill, 2017 is passed by Rajya Sabha today. Union Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment Shri Thaawarchand Gehlot today moved in Rajya Sabha the Constitution (One Hundred and Twenty Third Amendment) Bill, 2017 and the further Amendments made by the Lok Sabha.

The National Academy of Art, Lalit Kala Akademi(LKA), established in 1954 by the then  Education Minister MaulanaAbulKalam Azad, celebrated its 64th Foundation Day, today the 6th August, 2018. The event was inaugurated by Minister of State for Culture(I/c), Dr. Mahesh Sharma.

Exercise Maitree is a joint military exercise between Indian Army and Royal Thai Army which will be conducted from 06 to 19 August 2018 in Thailand. It is a platoon level exercise which comprises of infantry component.
