In order to give a boost to  Battery-Operated or  Electric Vehicles in the country, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has initiated steps for providing for differential registration fees  under the Central Motor Vehicles Rules 1989.

The fifth meeting of the Governing Council of NITI Aayog was held under the chairmanship of the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi at Rashtrapati Bhawan today. It was attended by the Governor of Jammu & Kashmir, 26 Chief Ministers and the Lieutenant Governor of Andaman & Nicobar Islands, apart from Union Ministers, who are ex-officio members and special invitees.

Operations to retrieve the mortal remains of the personnel onboard the ill fated An-32 are on. The rescue team of 17 IAF, Army SF and civilian members is present at the crash site. The rescue operations are being curtailed due to incessant rains and heavy clouding.
