The Hospital Authority (HA) spokesperson announced the following senior appointment today (July 28):
Dr Ching Wai-kuen will be appointed as Director (Strategy and Planning) with effect from September 1.
Dr Ching is a specialist in psychiatry, and has also attained a fellowship qualification in community medicine. He is currently the Hospital Chief Executive (HCE) of Cheshire Home, Chung Hom Kok, Ruttonjee and Tang Shiu Kin Hospitals, and Tung Wah Eastern Hospital. Prior to his current position, he was the HCE of Yan Chai Hospital from 2017 to 2021, HCE of MacLehose Medical Rehabilitation Centre, the Duchess of Kent Children's Hospital at Sandy Bay and Tung Wah Group of Hospitals Fung Yiu King Hospital from 2011 to 2017. Before taking up the roles of HCE in the hospitals, he was the Chief Manager in the Head Office of the HA who looked after different portfolios including medical grades. Dr Ching is a seasoned senior executive with extensive management experience both at cluster and corporate levels. In his role as HCE, Dr Ching delineated the forward-looking facility and service blueprints as well as the strategic development and service provisions for the respective clusters.
