Hospital Authority announces senior appointment (with photo)

The following is issued on behalf of the Hospital Authority:

     The Hospital Authority (HA) spokesperson announced the following senior appointment today (June 24):
 
     Dr Ian Cheung will be appointed as Hospital Chief Executive (HCE) of Yan Chai Hospital with effect from August 2, succeeding Dr Ching Wai-kuen, who has taken up the post of HCE of Cheshire Home, Chung Hom Kok, Ruttonjee & Tang Shiu Kin Hospitals and Tung Wah Eastern Hospital.
 
     Dr Cheung is a specialist in emergency medicine. He has worked in various departments in the HA Head Office since 2006. He was the Chief Manager (Clinical Effectiveness and Technology Management) prior to being appointed to his current post of Chief Manager (Cluster Performance) in 2016. Dr Cheung is a seasoned senior executive with solid management experience at the corporate level. He maintains and enhances cluster liaison and performance monitoring functions to support the strategic direction of the HA, such as driving the development of the Key Performance Indicator framework for service improvement and performance monitoring. He is also the overall person in charge to manage the demand surge in winter within the HA to alleviate the immense pressure on hospital staff while maintaining the standard of care in patient management.
 
     The HA Chairman, Mr Henry Fan, and the HA Chief Executive, Dr Tony Ko, congratulated Dr Cheung on his new appointment and wished him every success in taking up the new role.
