The staff concerned are currently on sick leave and are undergoing isolation in stable condition. The hospital has arranged all staff members and patients in the ICU to undergo COVID-19 tests. All staff were equipped with appropriate personal protective equipment at work. No patients are classified as close contacts. The service in the ICU is unaffected.
Thorough cleaning and disinfection operations have been conducted in the areas concerned, while infection control measures have been enhanced, including all staff members of ICU being required to wear surgical respirators at work during medical surveillance. All environmental specimens collected in ICU areas have tested negative for COVID-19. According to a preliminary investigation, the staff members concerned have not attended any mass gatherings. The hospital will continue to investigate the source of infection, closely monitor the health conditions of patients and staff members, and communicate with the Centre for Health Protection on the latest situation.
