Hongkong Post postal officer tests preliminarily positive for COVID-19 rapid test

     Hongkong Post said today (February 13) that a postal officer has tested preliminarily positive for COVID-19 rapid test.

     The postal officer works in Mong Kok Post Office and last performed duties on February 12. She works at the counter behind a partition to keep an appropriate social distance from customers. She underwent temperature screening when attending work and her body temperature was normal. She was wearing a mask while on duty.

     Upon notification of the case today, Hongkong Post immediately arranged for all co-workers of the postal officer to undergo COVID-19 testing and thorough cleaning and disinfection of all the facilities and mail items of the office pursuant to the guidelines set out by the Centre for Health Protection (CHP) of the Department of Health (DH).

     Mong Kok Post Office and its iPostal Station and Post Office Box Lobby will be closed from February 14 to 15. Members of the public can access postal services at Tai Kok Tsui Post Office (G/F, 67 Anchor Street, Tai Kok Tsui) or Kwong Wa Street Post Office (Shop No. 11-14, G/F, Kwong Fai Mansion, 3-13 Kwong Wa Street) nearby.      Hongkong Post will continue to implement measures for social distancing and infection control at all postal facilities to safeguard the health of staff and the public, and maintain close liaison with the CHP of the DH. Staff members are also reminded to take note of their personal hygiene and stay vigilant at all times, and are advised to seek medical advice immediately in case of feeling unwell.
