The Hong Kong Observatory (HKO) launched the "Hong Kong Observatory Open Day 2021" webpage today (March 26) to facilitate the public's understanding of the HKO's work and services through virtual tours of the HKO Headquarters.

In view of the pandemic developments, the HKO Open Day will be held online for the first time this year. It will adopt the theme of this year's World Meteorological Day, "The ocean, our climate and weather". The webpage will provide a diversified virtual visit experience through virtual tours, videos and interactive games.

At around 3pm tomorrow afternoon (March 27), a sand-painting performance to bring out messages related to climate change and extreme weather will be live-streamed on the webpage and the HKO's Facebook page. Results of the online polling campaign "2016-2020 Top 10 Mind-boggling Weather and Climate Events Selection", which attracted over 5 000 voters, will also be announced.

Members of the public are welcome to visit the "Hong Kong Observatory Open Day 2021" webpage at (openday.hko.gov.hk/).
