Hong Kong Observatory Calendar 2021 goes on sale tomorrow
The Hong Kong Observatory Calendar 2021 will go on sale tomorrow (December 8).
The calendar contains photos of beautiful weather and optical phenomena mainly contributed by photography enthusiasts through the Community Weather Observing Scheme (Facebook group: www.facebook.com/groups/icwos). These photos, including one of a rare "green flash" of the sun, will enable members of the public to appreciate the wonders of nature. The Hong Kong Observatory hopes that the photos will also remind the general public on the importance of environmental protection, raise their awareness of climate change and its impact on the weather and oceans, and encourage them to adopt a greener lifestyle to save energy and reduce carbon emissions.
Each calendar photo has a quick response code that allows readers to access information about the photo. The calendar also contains useful climate and astronomical information, including monthly climatological data and special climatological events, the times for the rising and setting of the sun and the moon, dates of eclipses of the sun and the moon, as well as tidal information. A complimentary calendar card is attached with the calendar this year.
At $25 a copy, the calendar is available for sale at the online Government Bookstore (www.gov.hk/en/apps/isdbookstore.htm). It is an ideal Christmas and New Year gift for friends and relatives. The public can also purchase the calendar at the Hong Kong Observatory Resource Centre, the Publications Sales Unit of the Information Services Department and the Kowloon Map Publications Centre of the Lands Department (subject to the opening arrangements of relevant sales outlets in view of the epidemic situation).
