A special Hong Kong film evening, organised by the 20th Salento International Film Festival (SIFF) with the support of the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Brussels (HKETO, Brussels) and CreateHK, was held in Milan, Italy, on September 27 (Milan time).
"A Light Never Goes Out" by Anastasia Tsang was screened at the Hong Kong film evening to fascinate viewers with the traditional Hong Kong craft of neon lights. The other film in the double bill of the SIFF's Hong Kong programme this year was Derek Tsang's award-winning youth drama "Better Days".
In her welcoming remarks at the Hong Kong film evening, Deputy Representative of the HKETO, Brussels Miss Fiona Li thanked the Festival for being a great partner for cultural exchanges between Hong Kong and Italy. The Festival had not only shown strong support for Hong Kong films over the years, it had also brought Italian films to Hong Kong.
Emphasising Hong Kong as an East-meets-West centre for international cultural exchange, Miss Li said that "Hong Kong is a crossroads for exchanges between East and West, a role that is set to develop further in the years ahead with growing creative industries in Mainland China and Asia."
Miss Li also underlined that the Hong Kong Government is deeply committed to providing support to our film industry, noting that "A Light Never Goes Out" is a project of the Film Development Fund's First Feature Film Initiative.
Turning to Hong Kong's recovery after the pandemic, she said the city is bursting with all kinds of cultural events and festivals, and tourists and business visitors alike were flocking back. She encouraged the audience to visit Hong Kong to check out this vibrant scene for themselves.
The SIFF is a major international film festival based in Tricase, in southern Italy. It has also launched screening events in cities around the world, including Hong Kong.
