Hong Kong Customs today (July 31) seized about 1.2 kilograms of suspected cocaine, about 75 grams of suspected crack cocaine, about 25g of suspected cannabis buds and about 10g of suspected ketamine with a total estimated market value of about $1.4 million in Cheung Sha Wan. Two men suspected to be connected with the case were arrested.

During an anti-narcotics operation conducted in the vicinity of Cheung Sha Wan this afternoon, Customs officers intercepted two 24-year-old men and found about 1.2kg of suspected cocaine inside a plastic bag carried by one of them. The duo were then arrested. Customs officers later escorted the two men to their co-rented residential flat nearby for a search, and further seized about 75g of suspected crack cocaine, about 25g of suspected cannabis buds, about 10g of suspected ketamine and a batch of drug packaging paraphernalia therein.

     An investigation is ongoing.

Under the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance, trafficking in a dangerous drug is a serious offence. The maximum penalty upon conviction is a fine of $5 million and life imprisonment.
