Hong Kong and Macao Customs pledge to deepen co-operation on various fronts at annual meeting (with photos)

     The Commissioner of Customs and Excise, Ms Louise Ho, and the Director-General of the Macao Customs Service, Mr Vong Man-chong, led delegations to attend the 38th Annual Meeting between Hong Kong Customs and the Macao Customs Service/Macao Economic and Technological Development Bureau held in Hong Kong today (May 31). 

     At the opening ceremony of the meeting, Ms Ho recognised the remarkable achievements resulting from mutual co-operation on various fronts. She expressed that Hong Kong Customs will continue to leverage its strengths to serve the needs of the country and contribute to the interconnectivity and integrated development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA). Both sides will continue to deepen co-operation in various aspects, including promoting customs collaboration on the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge to enhance customs clearance efficiency and create a more favourable business environment, and combat different cross-boundary criminal activities through close intelligence exchanges and joint operations to maintain the stability and prosperity of the GBA. 

     During the meeting, the two Customs authorities also reviewed their co-operation over the past year in facilitating customs clearance, combatting cross-boundary smuggling and drug trafficking activities, protecting intellectual property rights and training staff.
