The Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) announced today (July 21) that due to the maintenance of the shark prevention net and also sighting of a stingray which is about 1 metre long inside the enclosed zone of the net, Hoi Mei Wan Beach in Tsuen Wan District has been temporarily closed and a red flag has been hoisted at the beach.
Notices have been posted at the beach to remind beach-goers not to swim until further notice in order to ensure safety.
The LCSD is handling the case together with relevant departments and experts. The beach will be reopened when it is confirmed that there is no big fish inside the enclosed zone of the shark prevention net and the net is in good condition.
The LCSD reminds beach-goers not to touch, disturb or catch the stingray.
