HKSAR Government holds sharing session on spirit of Third Plenary Session of 20th CPC Central Committee today (with photos)
The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Government today (August 27) invited members of the publicity delegation of the spirit of the Third Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC Central Committee) to attend a sharing session at the Central Government Offices. The Vice-chairperson of the Constitution and Law Committee of the National People's Congress and the Chairman of the Legislative Affairs Commission of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, Mr Shen Chunyao, and the Secretary of the CPC Leadership Group of the Ministry of Commerce and the Minister of Commerce, Mr Wang Wentao, had in-depth exchanges with around 50 representatives of local and foreign chambers of commerce, universities, innovation and technology (I&T) institutions, professional services sector, and strategic I&T enterprises attracted by the Government. The sharing session was hosted by the Financial Secretary, Mr Paul Chan.
At the sharing session, Mr Shen and Mr Wang shared with participants their understanding of the spirit of the Third Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee, gave elaboration on the importance of further comprehensively deepening reform and promoting Chinese modernisation, and introduced the Resolution of the Plenary Session related to significant measures such as the improvement of high-quality opening up institutional mechanisms, and accelerating the development of new quality productive forces. They also encouraged Hong Kong to leverage its existing advantages and capitalise on its unique circunstances to give full play to its strengths in various areas such as finance, trade, talent, I&T and education. Hong Kong should integrate itself into the national reform tide, seizing the immense market, innovation and opening up opportunities generated by Chinese modernisation, and achieving greater success in the future.
Ten representatives from different sectors also spoke at the sharing session. They shared how to implement the spirit of the Third Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee within their respective business fields, and provided suggestions on the development directions for Hong Kong's future. Mr Shen and Mr Wang responded to their opinions in detail.
When concluding the sharing session, Mr Chan said the Third Plenary Session has confirmed the overall goal of further deepening reform for the country. The national strategy of advancing the comprehensive improvement of the economy and the society, and the overall improvement of people's living standard will bring vast opportunities to Hong Kong. He expressed his hope that the industrial, business and I&T sectors would study diligently and develop a thorough understanding of the spirit of the Third Plenary Session, and will work firmly with an innovative mindset and a strong sense of responsibility by understanding, responding to and embracing changes, so that Hong Kong can continue to contribute to the country's high-quality development and strive for a better development for Hong Kong.
