HKPCF TV programme “POP Hong Kong!” starts broadcast this Sunday

A new TV programme "POP Hong Kong!", with the first four episodes jointly produced by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) and Radio Television Hong Kong (RTHK), will start its broadcast at 7.30pm this Sunday (June 25). These first four episodes, each lasting for 30 minutes, is one of the programmes of the Hong Kong Pop Culture Festival 2023 (HKPCF).

The Chief Executive indicated in his 2022 Policy Address that the current-term Government is committed to fostering the cultural development of Hong Kong to expedite its progression into an East-meets-West centre for international cultural exchanges, among which promoting Hong Kong's pop culture is one of the most important parts to enrich the city's arts, cultural and creative contents.

With a focus on pop music and films, the first four episodes of "POP Hong Kong!" review the profound impact on Hong Kong's popular culture by iconic figures, namely Leslie Cheung, Anita Mui and Joseph Koo. It also traces the evolution and latest developments of the creative industry through filmmakers and music creators of different generations. The programme features a voice-over narration by actress Sofiee Ng.

"POP Hong Kong!" will be broadcast on RTHK 31 every Sunday starting from June 25. The programme will also be available on the RTHK website (www.rthk.hk/tv/dtt31/programme/pophongkong?lang=en) and the mobile application "RTHK Screen" for live broadcast and programme review. It can also be reviewed on the RTHK YouTube Channel.
