HA’s response to media enquiries
The following is issued on behalf of the Hong Kong Housing Authority:
In response to media enquiries about the reduction of rental for the retail units of the Hong Kong Housing Authority (HA), a spokesman said a press statement had been issued by the HA on August 15 after the Financial Secretary's announcement of a package of relief measures including reducing rental of commercial properties/facilities of the government departments by 50 per cent for a period of six months.
The statement announced that in line with the Government's efforts, the HA would seek approval from the HA's Commercial Properties Committee to reduce the rent for the HA's retail and factory units by 50 per cent for six months in tandem with the Government's measures.
"We have now worked out the detailed arrangements, and are seeking the approval from the Commercial Properties Committee," the spokesman said.
"As part of these arrangements, in view of the special rent reduction measure, the regular review of the rental of the HA's individual retail and factory units will be deferred until the six months' reduction period is over."
